Lucifer, a rewrite of "Kiba"

The story is somewhat similar, but I changed the focus. Kinda short, but i dont think the length really affects how good a story is.
I picked up the pen and froze for several minutes. Then I stood up, staring at the view beyond the window. I not know what to write. The mental block was there again. It was an annoying condition that visits me every now and then. In frustration, I hurled the pen across the room. Then I heard something – a clear, loud, bay. I picked up the pen, and a long forgotten tale unfolded on the paper… …
I was heading home that day, with a particularly heavy heart. I failed another test when most of my classmates got nearly perfect scores. I was reluctant to go home. I could already hear my mother’s voice, one that was scolding me for not doing well enough. I had been an obedient child. I did study, but it’s just that I didn’t do well. My parents will never understand that. Sometimes, I too wonder why. But that was the truth, and nothing can change it.
To buy sometime, I went for a walk in the park. Unexpectedly, something caught my attention – a dog. Perhaps it was a wolf, since it looked very much like one, but I considered it a dog as no one on earth would expect to find a wolf in the middle of a well developed human civilization. When I took a closer look at the dog, I realized that its fur was really beautiful. Its fur was really white, and it glowed in an amazing way. When it gave a passing butterfly a friendly snap, it exposed its long, sharp fang. Considering its blood red eyes, it gave the impression of the devil, Lucifer. But the dog was friendly, and it came towards me so close I could read from the tag on its color “Lucifer, Male.” The playful dog nudged me with his nose, and soon after, we were having a lot of fun. Gradually, I realized that I had to head home, and so I left Lucifer staring at my disappearing figure.
Many times I returned to the park, and each time I found Lucifer waiting for me. It gradually became a habit, but it had a bad effect. With lesser time to study, my grades gradually began to drop. But I was happy, really happy.
Then one day, the happiness vanished.
I was on my way to the park, when a gang of bullies saw me and demanded for money. Unable to produce what they wanted, I was punished with kicks and punches. At that moment, I heard a familiar growl. I heard someone scream, heard the bullies’ footsteps and saw Lucifer chase after them. I began to lose conscious. I heard a car screech. Something collided with it.
I woke up in the hospital, with anxious faces around me. They told me that the bullies were chased by a policeman. They said the bullies nearly collided with the car. They said no one was hurt. I believe otherwise.

It started to rain.

Lucifer never returned to the park.
