The setting is in my school. It's pretty weird, but i felt that i had to write.
Shira was still in her classroom at seven in the evening. She hid her bag under the teacher’s table, so it was impossible for any one to spot it outside. Then, carefully, she lifted her head and peeked out of the window. No one, they did not know that she was still in school. She stood up exited the classroom. Cautiously, she ran across the fourth level, past the music rooms to a secluded corner which no one visited. There, she stayed until everyone left the school. The security guard closed and gate and returned home. Quietly, after a long time, she stood up and stretched. She looked at her watch, and hurried towards the side of the field. There, she would meet her friends. No, they were not humans. It would be too obvious for so many people to hide in school. They were creature, awesome creatures that only appeared at night.
Gradually, the creatures appeared. They were magnificent creatures. Some took the forms of creatures that existed on Earth, like wolves, tigers and lions, others, who are more abstract, took the forms of imaginary ones, not only unicorns or dragons, but also creatures that no one ever thought of. Spirits, she would have called them, but those creatures called themselves Shadows. She met those creatures for the first time a week ago, when she stayed back in school to see what the school looked like under the moonlight. Ever since that night she would stay back to peek at the Shadows.
Shira laid down on her stomach and raised her head and counted the number of Shadows that night. One, two, three, four… … there were only thirteen Shadows. Just a week ago there had been more than fifty of them. Without making any obvious movements, Shira laid down again. The Shadows were talking.
“Where are the rest?” one of them asked.
“Gone. They sensed human presence nearby and didn’t want to be caught.”
Shira froze. Was it her presence that they sensed.
“Wimps.”
“Clever, I would say. If I’m younger I would have gone too, but I can’t now, being so old.”
“Quiet! I hear something!”
Shira couldn’t see, but she swore she felt the Shadow’s eyes staring in her direction. For what seemed like a thousand years, Shira waited. But there was no sound. Slowly, she peeked at the field. The Shadows were gone, because a security guard was patrolling with his torch.
